The assistant has pressure-sensitive sensors (2) determining relevant seating posture characteristics in a back rest and a seat surface of a chair (1). An electronic circuit transfers monitoring-, reporting- and documentation function with an appropriate evaluation software. A wireless transmission unit (3) is provided for data transfer from the chair to a personal computer (6) by radio, where the computer is directly arranged at the chair. An independent claim is also included for a method for alarming of posture errors, when sitting.
