Polymers made by radical polymerisation of a mixture containing glycidyl methacrylate and H-acid monomers, used in structural adhesives which are precrosslinked with UV light and hardened by heating
A polymer (I) obtained by radical polymerisation, comprising at least 30 wt% glycidyl (meth)acrylate units (A) and also containing monomer units with H-acid groups (B), in which the ratio of (A) to H-acid groups (B) = (5:1)-(10:1). Independent claims are included for (1) a method for the production of a structural adhesive in the form of tape, by making a polymerizable syrup containing monomers (A) and (B) in amounts as above plus 0.01-0.1 wt% photoinitiator, precrosslinking the syrup with UV light, adding 0.5-0.99 wt% of a second initiator, coating a carrier film with the syrup and crosslinking the polymer layer with UV light (2) structural adhesive tape coated with (I) (3) strippable carrier film coated with (I) (4) a method for the production of a structural joint between moulded parts, by coating one part with (I) or tape as above, sticking the parts together and hardening the polymer by heating (5) moulded parts joined together with adhesive by this method.
