Distance sensor calibration method for motor vehicle, involves determining frequency distribution of run time of transmit signal from transmitter to receiver to produce sensor distance value, which correlates with sensor runtime
The method involves transmitting a transmit signal with a transmitter of a distance sensor at a time point. The transmit signal is converted into a receive signal with a receiver of the sensor, and another time point at which the receive signal exceeds a preset threshold value is determined. The run time of the signal from the transmitter to the receiver is determined from a difference between the time points. A frequency distribution of the run time is determined to produce a sensor distance value, which correlates with the sensor runtime between the transmitter and the receiver.
