The machine has a rotor shaft (18) rotatably supported at a housing (20) by bearings (14, 16), where the housing has a plastic deformation area (56) at an axial end of the shaft for compensating a rotor-axial play. The bearing (14) is designed as roller bearing (22), and rests against a distance sleeve (52) over an axial contact surface that is axially supported at the area. The bearing (14) has an inner ring (30) fastened to the shaft in a torque-proof manner, and an outer ring (34) arranged opposite to the housing in a torque-proof manner. The sleeve is axially pressed against the ring (34). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electric machine.
