In ultrasonic machining apparatus having an ultrasonic vibration (USV) unit (10) with a converter (12), a booster (14), a sonotrode (18), another booster (16) between the converter and sonotrode and a holder (24) supported by the boosters, the holder consists of a piece (26) of tubing, which at least partially grips the boosters, contacts the boosters in the vibrational node regions and has an external mounting device (30). Ultrasonic machining apparatus comprises an ultrasonic vibration (USV) unit (10) and optionally a counter-tool. The workpiece (48) is placed on the USV unit, which has a converter (12), a booster (14), a sonotrode (18), another booster (16) between the converter and sonotrode and a holder (24) for the USV unit, supported by the two boosters. The novel feature is that the holder consists of a piece (26) of tubing, which at least partially grips the boosters, contacts the boosters in the vibrational node regions and has an external mounting device (30) in the region of its axial center (28), via which the holder is attached to a machine frame or a retaining device.
