The device has a drill (4) in a rolling shell (1) of a roller that is supported in a supporting device in a horizontal manner, where the drill is supported in a drill stand (11). An ultrasonic sensor (10) is provided for determining the position of the drill during the drilling process. The position of the drill in the drill stand and the position of the rolling shell in the supporting device are changed relative to each other. The drill is rotatably arranged with respect to the shell under utilization of weight of the drill.
