A series of components is associated with the tire valve. A transmitter (4) with a power supply (2) emits electromagnetic radiation. This is coupled via a capacitive component (5) to electrically-conductive material (9) in which a valve component (8) is embedded. The conductive material (9) is excited into dipole oscillation. The electromagnetic radiation produced, communicates state data from the interior of the pneumatic tire. The capacitative coupling component includes a conductive rod (5a) within the electrically-conductive material (9). An independent claim is included for the corresponding method.
