The device (12) has an optical sensor system (13) that detects chlorophyll content of cultivated plants (14) during harvesting process, and an evaluation unit that generates a weed signal. The optical sensor system operates with a wavelength ranging between 400 and 700 nanometer. A sampling width of the optical sensor system corresponds to operating width of an intent device (3).
