The device (2) has a work surface (3) with a sink (4), and a work plate (14) is adjustably arranged on the work surface. The work plate is movable relative to the sink on the work surface over a bowl. A recess is provided in the work plate in such a manner that the recess is positionable temporarily above the bowl, by moving the work plate on the work surface over the bowl. Two opposite sides of the work plate are supported in each moving position of the work plate relative to the sink, on the sink. An independent claim is also included for a work plate for utilization in a kitchen assembly device.
