The assistance drive has a heat exchanger (7,8,15), which heats a working fluid by waste heat of the internal-combustion engine (1). An expansion machine (9,10) is propelled by the working fluid heated up by the heat exchanger. The expansion machine has an output shaft (2), a rotation-symmetric chamber, which surrounds the output shaft circularly and two pistons, which are independently rotating in the chamber on a circular path. The working fluid is heated up and introduced into two expansion cavities provided in the chamber between the faces of the two pistons.
