Production of a metal body having a surface with nanoscopic pores or a nanoscopic structure comprises impinging a metal base body with a current in an electrolytic bath. The bath is displaced with ions comprising a V-VIIa element. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Metal body produced using the above process; (2) Bone implant made from the above metal body; and (3) Method for increasing the surface of the metal body.
