The component (10) has a connecting surface (14) for fastening adjacent components (18) of a body of an automobile, where the connecting surface is formed by thin-walled cast fastening flange (12), and the component is designed as a cast part made of cast steel. The flange has a wall-thickness of 1.5 to 2.5 millimeter, and has a reinforcement arranged at a free end of the flange, which is turned away from the component. The surface is arranged at a side of the flange, and a sealant is attached to the side of the flange.
