An automobile has floor-mounted rails (1) for the attachment of seats. On removal of the seats, the U-shaped (4) rails are exposed for attachment of an adaptor (2) fitting on which heavy loads may be placed and anchored. The rail has a series of locking detents (5) that engage with first (16) and second (17) matching clamp plates linked by spring-mounted pins.
