The method involves operating an actuating unit (20) using a power transmitter (30) that is in the form of a shape memory alloy (SMA) unit. A drive force generated by the SMA unit is transmitted to a functional unit of a miniature model. The SMA unit is pressurized with the electrical energy for generation of the drive force. The energy supply to the SMA unit is controlled based on a parameter e.g. electrical resistance and temperature of the SMA unit. An independent claim is also included for an operating device for a miniature model.
