The control has an energy absorber comprising an energy absorber element (1) e.g. holder, for absorption of an acceleration energy by plastic deformation. The plastic deformation of the energy absorber element takes place within a housing. A bending radius of the energy absorber element is continuously adjustable in the housing via an adjustment element (801). The cover plate is displaceable in the direction of the energy absorber element by actuation of the adjustment element, so that the energy absorber element runs along a contact surface of a cover sheet (803).
