The controller (10) reduces the operational voltage as a function of an accident warning signal. It includes an electronic switch with a pyrotechnic device which is detonated in response to the signal. An acceleration sensor produces the accident warning signal as a function of detected speed reduction. The controller (10) casing (9) has first and second input and output terminals (6, 8) fitted to it. The vehicle battery has a casing, the vehicle motor controller (4) being contained within it.
