The segment (1) has sections (2, 3) connected to each other for designing a hollow profile. One of the sections with its longitudinal side is connected with a longitudinal side of adjacent sections in a movable and sectional manner by a connecting unit (4) designed as a hinge unit so that the sections are conveyed from an unmounted condition to a mounted condition. The sections form an open profile and closed profile concerning the cross section of the sections in the unmounted and mounted conditions, respectively. The sections are arranged at an angle of 180 degree to each other. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a profile segment.
