The method involves receiving request signals of a transmitter/receiver (20) by a radio-frequency identification (RFID) transponder (14) e.g. active RFID transponder, during passing through of detection locks. Reply signals are sent to the transmitter/receiver by the transponder. The reply signals of the transponder are transmitted to an electronic data processing system (22) by the transmitter/receiver, and the reply signals are evaluated by the system. Controlling and relocating of conveying units (12) e.g. freight hauler, are initiated by the reply signals that are evaluated by the system. An independent claim is also included for a system for detecting and/or positioning of conveying units on transportation surfaces.
