The circuit has a first input which receives a digital input signal comprising a sequence of time discrete values. A first summer or adder (10,11) forms the sum of the squares of these signal values. A second summer or adder (15) forms the sum of the values. A calculating unit (12,13,14) calculates a measure of scatter or deviation from scatter from the outputs of the two summers for each signal time point. Independent claims also cover a method of real time measurement.
