The arrangement comprises four double refracting components (E1,E2,E3,E4) switched into series. A polarization mode dispersion (PMD) vector is assigned to the refracting component in the stokes-area. The other double refracting components (E2,E3,E4) have PMD-vectors, which form a closed vector course. The derivative corresponds to a desired polarization-dependent chromatic dispersion (PCD) and/or depolarization (DEP) according to the frequency of the resultant of PMD-vectors.
