The arrangement has a sprung standing surface for an operator formed by an upper floor plate (1) mounted on a lower floor plate (2) by linkages, whereby a spring element is arranged between the upper and lower plates so the upper plate is biased upwards relative to the lower one and can be moved downwards against the spring force by the weight of an operator. A position sensor (20) detects the position of the upper plate.
