A shorter base (4) is fitted within a U-shaped metallic profile (14), defining free spaces (23) within the ends of the profile. Electrically conductive, water-resistant seals (28) of mechanically sturdy construction are fitted into the free spaces and to the front of both ends of the base. The electrode connections of the elongate light bulb (3) within the base, as well as the operating electronics, internal wirings, and conductive links behind the bulb are sealed against humidity or foreign material.
