The method involves determining the wheel speed of a motor vehicle from the speed (nmot) of a drive motor (12), an actual gear ratio (iG) and a circumference of a drive wheel (14). A default value for the wheel speed is temporarily determined when a frictional connection between the drive motor and a carriageway is deemed to be reversed, while the final wheel speed is temporarily controlled by a low-pass filter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program t for use in a method of determining speed of a motor vehicle (2) an electrical storage medium for a control- and/or regulation device of a motor vehicle (3) a control - and/or regulation device for a motor vehicle.
