The compressor includes segments (6) to cool air charged to the engine, within its casing (2). The segments have channels (7), through which a coolant flows. Tips of the segments are designed to reduce resistance to airflow. Numbers of segments are arranged with spacing between them. The compressor casing is a spiral housing with a rectangular connecting flange outlet (9). The rotary impeller (5) of the compressor is driven by a turbine. A heat exchanger cools the air charged, and is mounted at the flange, or within the casing.
