The device has a pyroelectric infrared detector (1) for converting infrared rays, which are produced from natural or artificial body heat changes of a living thing, into electrical signals. An amplifier (2) amplifies the electrical signals that are digitized by an analog-to-digital converter (3). An analysis program (4) generates time signals, magnitude spectra and differential spectra for total measuring time or for partial time during different mental conditions of a living thing. A display (5) is provided to view and compare results with different state of mind of the living thing.
