The tilting mechanism (10) is arranged for tilting the carrier (30) of a forklift truck (40) used in transporting and loading bulk containers (20). The tilting mechanism is connected to the carrier via a down-holding mandrel (18) which is received in a recess formed on the carrier. The tilting mechanism also has a tilting arm (16) for tilting the container placed on the carrier of the forklift truck. The tilting arm is moved with respect to a tilting frame (13) using pneumatic or hydraulic tilting cylinder (15).
