The base material thickness of an electrode plate in the border area adjacent to the contact area is larger than the base material thickness of the contact area. A projecting rib (2a) is arranged over the base material thickness in the border area. An independent claim is also included for a lead-acid battery with separators having one electrode from alternatively arranged positive and negative flat shaped electrodes, which are arranged between the separators for the separation of the opposite polarity electrodes.
