The device (10) has a substrate (30) such as ceramic substrate, and a sensing area (40), which is thermally decoupled from the substrate and arranged in such a manner that the sensing area is connected with the substrate by a rod. A blowing element conducts a portion of a fluid e.g. particle-afflicted exhaust fluid, from a motor vehicle engine to the sensing area, and provides a direct blowing of the sensing area. The sensing area has a sensor element such as thermocouple or resistive element.
