In a textile process to feed core thread to produce core yarn, the core yarn feeds over a roller with a circular groove. The roller is suitable for textile machine staple fiber drafting stations. The groove has side flanks that converge into a trough and positions the core thread to an axial presentation without pinching. The roller is made up of two circular halves with a push-fit interface with an integral trough. The groove side flanks are applied to the two individual halves making up the feed roller.
