The method involves supplying desired sound events (3) by a vehicle unit, and detecting view-affecting environment parameters (2) by an optical sensor to provide a signal (5). The signal concludes whether precipitation prevails in the vehicle due to rain, mist or snow. The desired sound events in the vehicle are manipulated based on the signal. A volume of the sound events is manipulated in determined frequency ranges. An independent claim is also included for a device for manipulating perception of sound events in a vehicle.
