Aqueous dispersion comprises: a bis-dioxaphosphinane compound (I) as flame retardant; a dispersing agent such as castor oil alkoxy ester, ricinoleic acid alkoxy ester, or a non-ionic oligo- or polyester of aromatic dicarboxylic acid, 2-8C alkylene-diol or poly(1-4C-alkylene)glycol, and/or methylpoly(2-4C-alkylene)glycol, or a mixture of oligo- or polyester with dialkylsulfosuccinate; and optionally a retention agent. Aqueous dispersion comprises: a bis-dioxaphosphinane compound of formula (I) as flame retardant; a dispersing agent such as castor oil alkoxy ester, ricinoleic acid alkoxy ester, or a non-ionic oligo- or polyester of aromatic dicarboxylic acid, 2-8C alkylene-diol or poly(1-4C-alkylene)glycol, and/or methylpoly(2-4C-alkylene)glycol, or a mixture of the oligo- or polyester with dialkylsulfosuccinate; and optionally a retention agent.
