Aqueous pigment preparation (A) comprises at least an organic and/or inorganic pigment; dispersing agent and/or surfactant; three- or high-order alkoxylated alcohol (I); polyglycol alkyl ether (II); optionally hydrotropic oligomer and/or polymer; optionally fat, oil or fatty acid; optionally other additives for preparing pigment dispersion; and water. An independent claim is included for a preparation of (A) comprising dispersing organic and/or inorganic pigment in the form of powder, granulate or aqueous pressed cake in the presence of water, dispersing agent and/or surfactant, (I) and (II); subsequently mixing optionally water and optionally one or more hydrotropic oligomer and/or polymer, fat, oil or fatty acid and additive, and optionally transferring the obtained aqueous pigment dispersion in water.
