A regulation and control occurs at another predetermined speed, in case a raising or slamming of a vehicle door is detected. A regulation and control occurs at a third predetermined speed, if an operating device arranged on the vehicle door, which has no contact sensor, or has an assigned remote controlled operating device, arranged on the actuated vehicle doors. A regulation and control occurs at zero speed, in cases, that a contact sensor arranged on the internal or external side of the door is not actuated for a predetermined time period, that the contact sensor is reconnected or the operating unit assigned to another door of the vehicle door is operated successively, and that an obstacle detection sensor mechanism, which monitors the pivoting area of the vehicle door, detects an obstacle.
