The hand dryer has a device for producing an air flow discharged from an outlet and directed on wet hands of the user. The dryer has another device (2) for catching water drops blown away by the wet hands. The device for catching water drops, designed as collecting pan with a water-permeable cover, is arranged between the cover and the collecting pan for receiving the water. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a hand dryer operating method involves discharging an air flow from an outlet and directing on wet hands of a user (2) application of the device for catching water drops in combination with air flow or a hot air hand dryer.
