The method involves calculating an echo signal (E1) resulted from an ultrasonic signal (US) reflected around an object (14) for determining the distance. Other echo signals (E2, E3), which are resulted from the echo signal (E1) are calculated. A route, which is determined from the running time of the echo signal (E2) from transmission unto impact on the ultrasonic sensor (12), is divided by two during the distance determination, with consideration of the echo signal (E2). An independent claim is also included for an ultrasonic sensor.
