Method for the biodegradation of methyl-tertiary-butylether, tertiary butyl alcohol, BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene) compounds and/or mineral oil hydrocarbons in water, comprises fixing the bacterial strains L108 (DSM) on a moderate hydrophobic carrier material and carrying out the degradation process in the presence of usual growth components of the strains, at a pH of 5-9 under aerobic condition. Independent claims are included for: (1) a bacterial strain L108-DSM (deposited on 28.04.2006); and (2) a bacterial strain L108 fixed on a clay granulate, lava-tuff or polystyrene.
