The actuator (1) has a piezoelement (2) arranged between two end caps (3). A ring shaped casing (5) is connected with the endcaps, where the casing surrounds the piezoelement areawise. The casing is made of composite materials, where the casing comprises two layers arranged in sections. One of the layers consists of a metallic substance and the other layer consists of a polymer. The casing includes an elastic and ductile casing foil (11) made from a composite material.
