The envelope for the mailing of circular data carriers such as CDs and DVDs has a sealing flap which by a transversely extending separating perforation is divided into an upper section, directly joining the back section, and a lower section, whereby both the lower section and the front section have adequate free surfaces to accommodate mailed medium. The upper section (11) of the sealing flap (7) extends at least over half the height of the envelope. The side flap (4,5) of the envelope has at least one cut-out (19).
