The method involves processing a signal in a digital signal processor (1.1) in a processing path. Another processing path is provided parallel to the former processing path without the digital signal processor. A result of the former processing path is verified for plausibility by a result of the latter processing path. Results of the two processing paths are compared with one another. An independent claim is also included for a signal processing device for an acceleration sensor.
