The gas ionization device for treating contaminated water by treatment with a gaseous oxidation agent, comprises a closed housing arranged between electrodes for the production of gas-discharge and exhibiting a gas inlet (21) and a gas outlet, and a separation section (25) for the supply of gas into nozzles, arranged downstream of the gas inlet. The separation section shows a perforated plate like separator (29), which is adjoined to the nozzles, and a ceramic membrane like homogenizer containing a porous material. The gas ionization device for treating contaminated water by treatment with a gaseous oxidation agent, comprises a closed housing arranged between electrodes for the production of gas-discharge and exhibiting a gas inlet (21) and a gas outlet, and a separation section (25) for the supply of gas into nozzles, arranged downstream of the gas inlet. The separation section shows a perforated plate like separator (29), which is adjoined to the nozzles, and a ceramic membrane like homogenizer containing a porous material. The first electrode is a nozzle made of conducting material and the second electrode is a perforated lattice. The nozzles for producing a corona discharge from a head of the nozzle are arranged diagonally to the flow direction and consist of metallic materials. Each nozzle is assigned as a perforation of the perforated lattice and the perforated plate. The separation section is interconnected to the gas inlet. The electrodes are arranged in an ionization section (26). The gas outlet and the ionization section are interconnected to a nozzle shaped discharge section (27). The cross-section of the discharge section is conically tapered itself to the down stream of the device. A rounded transition is arranged between the discharge section and the gas outlet and/or the ionization section. Independent claims are included for: (1) a device for treating contaminated water by treatment with a gaseous oxidation agent; and (2) a procedure for treating contaminated water by treatment with a gaseous oxidation agent.
