The mechanism has clamps (73, 74, 76) fastened at a fixed end of the control mechanism, and mounted at a gear box. The clamp (73, 76) bears respective springs (78, 86) and extensions (78A, 86A). The springs (78, 86) are provided under pressure between the respective clamps (73, 76) and notches (80, 88) that are formed in a shift lever (44). The arrangement of the springs brings resettable-or-centre force to the lever, so as to move the level from one neutral position into another neutral position. The lever is moved along a neutral rail through a third neutral position.
