The system has an information retrieval unit for obtaining information about an object located in a vehicle. A processor unit analyses the obtained information and includes an adaptive logic to proactively control light pattern within the vehicle based on the analyzed information. The analyzed information is related to information about presence, size and movement of the object. The processor unit includes an electronic control unit of the vehicle, where the object is a person. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an interior lighting in a vehicle.
