The method involves subjecting image pixels derived from recorded images to filtration, and folding the surrounding range of the pixels with a filter that comprises two filter matrices. Each pixel and the associated surrounding range are folded with the filter matrices. The folded results are linked with an arithmetic operation, and the linked data is evaluated as a measure for the amount of edge values of the respective pixels and/or an affinity of the pixels to the edges. An independent claim is also included for a computer program product with a program code-unit, which is stored in a computer readable data carrier to execute a method for detecting edges in images.
