The unit (1) has a set of input interfaces (3-6) and a configuration unit (7), which is equipped such that media data inputted by the interfaces is produced according to a configuration in different partial areas (9-12) of a display (2). The configuration unit has a device for receiving configuration data over size and position of the partial areas. The device receives the configuration data by performing correlation between the data inputted by the interfaces and the areas used for producing the medical data. An independent claim is also included for a method for displaying medical data on a display unit.
