A diesel particle filter has a housing (1) with an inlet and an outlet, and a valve unit that controls gas flow by a filter unit (7). The filter unit is in tubular shape and fits on a supporting tube (5) that is perforated at an area of the filter unit. The valve unit has a closure unit (10) that is opened against a spring dependent on a gas pressure in the inlet. The closure unit releases a variable filter surface dependent on the gas pressure.
