The method involves heat being generated by catalytic oxidation of some of the fuel. It involves passing the liquid fuel to an absorbent material at a distance from the catalyzer (4), whereby the air quantity fed to the catalytic evaporation is no more than 25 per cent of that required for full oxidation of the supplied fuel quantity and the heat transfer from the catalyzer to the liquid fuel takes place primarily by thermal radiation. An independent claim is also included for a reformer reactor with catalytic evaporation.
