The method involves providing a lubricant dispenser (1), which has a gas generating area (7) limiting on a lubricant reservoir (5) and a gas generator (8) arranged within the gas generating area. The gas generator is attached to a control unit (10) for controlling the generated mass of gas over an electrical circuit (9), where the gas generation rate depends on a current flowing over the generator and the circuit. Delivery of a lubricant takes place after a short starting phase over an entire operating time of the lubricant dispenser. An independent claim is also included for a lubricant dispenser.
