A method for fitting an oil suction pipe into the sump of an IC engine has the pipe (4) secured into the bottom of the sump pan (1) by fasteners (5) to hold the inlet above the bottom of the pan. The upper end of the suction pipe is secured to an upper mounting (7) in the sump pan to provide a vibration free fitting. The pipe connects to the oil pump mounting in the crankcase when the sump pan is fitted.
