The roll container comprises a pallet (P) with two cage frames extending upwards from two opposing edges. The pallet has two beams (3,4) connected by a diagonal brace (5). The brace is pivotably connected to the second beam (4) so that it can pivot perpendicular to the plane spanning the first beam and the brace. A rectangular base (6) is pivotably attached to one of the beams, so that it can pivot about an axis parallel to the beam. Devices (7) are provided the edge of the base opposite the pivot bearing, for direct or indirect form-fitted fixing to the other beam.
