The drive unit (12) has an electrical driving motor (14) having a change speed gear (16) having two steps. A differential gear (18) is provided which has an opening (58) and two outputs connected to a wheel drive shaft (20, 22). The electrical driving motor is connected by a transmission drive shaft (40) by an opening of the change speed gear. An output of the change speed gear is connected to the input of the differential gear. The transmission drive shaft is designed as a hollow shaft which the wheel drive shaft is led through by the transmission drive shaft.
